Senior Assistant City Attorney – DEN Legal Join the

to serve in this senior-level attorney role supporting Denver International Airport (DEN) legal affairs.

Who We Are & What You’ll Do The Denver City Attorney’s Office is one of the largest law firms in Colorado, with over 230 attorneys and staff, dedicated to an equitable, inclusive, and diverse work environment. DEN Legal is the legal department for the airport, supporting commercial and real estate matters, including contracts, concessions, finance, public safety, and other airport-related issues.

Responsibilities

Advise City and Airport officers and managers regarding contracts and complex matters, including aviation and municipal law compliance, concession contracts, real estate transactions, contract enforcement, financial requirements and compliance, and other legal areas applicable to the City and Airport.

Negotiate and prepare contracts, ordinances, leases, permits, and other legal documents.

Assist other attorneys across the City Attorney’s Office with research and advice.

Mentor and assist newer attorneys with legal research, advice, and drafting.

Prepare administrative hearings and complex cases for trial, develop motions and discovery documents, and represent the City in proceedings and appellate briefing and argument.

Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Jurisprudence or Bachelor of Laws degree.

Experience: At least 5 years of legal experience and at least 3 years as an attorney at law. Experience in intellectual property, commercial transactions, complex construction contracts, municipal, airport or transportation law, real estate development and leasing, public safety and security, finance, and other relevant areas.

License: Colorado license to practice law by date of hire or reasonable expectation of licensing by date of hire. Must keep license current.

Benefits

Competitive pay: $131,770 - $224,009 annually, based on experience.

Guaranteed life-long monthly pension after 5 years of service.

Hybrid workplace: Denver International Airport at least three days a week; off-site days within Colorado.

Furlough days as announced for budget shortfall; details discussed in offer.

Location & Schedule The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work at the Denver International Airport at least three days a week and off-site within Colorado on other days.
