REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
WORK SCHEDULE: Per Semester/Course Contract
COMPENSATION: $1,150 to $1,725 per credit, determined by education credentials

Summary Of Position
Teaches one Beginning Drawing course (ART 105) beginning in Fall 2025. ART 105 is scheduled for Fridays, 5:30 to 8:30pm, from 8/22/25 to 11/21/25, and is a 3-credit course. Please visit https://catalog.ilisagvik.edu/ for a full course description.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, course outlines, and curriculum. Develops and submits current course syllabus, using the college template. Prepares administrative documents, such as student withdrawals and attendance. Evaluates student performance and timely submits midterm and final grades to the registrar. Maintains office hours (in-person, telephonically, or online). Participates in professional development as necessary to be proficient in the college’s current technologies and learning platform. Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Demonstrated professional and/or teaching experience in the subject area. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment. Proficient in drawing, painting, or similar artistic discipline. Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development. Demonstrated experience with distance delivery. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions. Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College. Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community. Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Art (Drawing, Painting, etc.) or related field. Experience commensurate with advanced skill in drawing will also be considered.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:
Doctorate degree or equivalent in the area of instruction.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear; The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and may occasionally drive a vehicle. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
