The Postdoctoral Fellow in the Guggenmos Lab within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will play a key role in advancing neuroscience research through experimental and analytical work. This position is responsible for conducting neurophysiology experiments, performing large-scale analysis of neural datasets, and contributing to scientific publications. The Fellow will also assist with animal care in support of ongoing studies and collaborate with team members to drive high-quality, impactful research. Responsibilities
Work independently and collaboratively on research projects. Assist with development of grant proposals and scientific manuscripts. Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information. Conduct neurophysiology experiments. Perform large dataset analysis of neural data. Assist with lab animal care. Assist with publishing scientific journal articles. Expectations
The Postdoc will be expected to complete research projects under the guidance of the faculty mentor, record and interpret the results of their experiments in an electronic laboratory notebook, prepare publication-quality manuscripts (including figures and tables), and publish in peer-reviewed literature. Read literature articles, develop new ideas, and assimilate the information into project design and interpretation. Dissemination of studies: Interact regularly with the PI, faculty mentor, and laboratory members to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results. Present research aims and findings at department seminars and at local and national scientific meetings. Write and publish results as first author in abstracts, manuscripts, and posters. Compliance
Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Department, understand and follow IACUC and biosafety protocols, and attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings. Required Qualifications
Education: PhD in Bioengineering or Neuroscience or related field. Work Experience: Two years of experience in Neuroscience. Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience: Four years experience in Neuroscience Required Documents
