Introduction Salary $22/hour Employment type – Part-time GRADE HRLY 0008 LOCATION OF POSITION Training Division, DNR, 580 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis MD 21401 (Anne Arundel County)
Main Purpose of Job The seasonal trainer provides training for park staff, both classified and contractual. Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. The position provides classroom and field instruction and requires travel throughout the state of Maryland. Candidates must be proficient in course creation and lesson plan development.
Duties
Schedules instructors, reserves facilities and orders food for training in State Parks
Enters data using Excel spreadsheets and Google Suite programs
Assists and leads classes related to First Aid/CPR, Search and Rescue, Small Engines, Chainsaw, and/or tree care
Minimum Qualifications
Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with American Heart Association or Red Cross, EMR Instructor Certification with MIEMSS, or American Red Cross
(proof of certification must be uploaded with your application or emailed to Recruitment Analyst by deadline for credit to be given)
Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating chainsaws or other small engines
Education High school diploma or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications Additional experience in park operations includes the knowledge and skills associated with incident command, search and rescue, and maintenance project planning and implementation.
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications Employees in this classification may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland and five points or fewer on their current driving record.
Special Requirements Applicants selected for employment may undergo an employment background investigation, including employment reference check, education verification, driving record check (if the position requires employees to drive a vehicle) and a criminal history check including fingerprinting.
