Senior Custodian (5116C) 28501 role at Inside Higher Ed. Location: Berkeley, CA. Requires custodial duties in residential and campus facilities with a focus on quality customer service, safety, and compliance with university policies. Responsibilities

CUSTODIAL DUTIES: Provide quality customer service during each interaction with internal and external customers. Operate, maintain, set up and dismantle a full range of cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, buffers, pressure washers, wet/dry vacuums, floor scrubbing/polishing machines). Clean and maintain offices, lounges, student areas, lobbies, hallways, stairwells, terraces, balconies, kitchens, restrooms, and related spaces: dust and clean moldings, windowsills, handrails, door tracks, radiators, furniture, windows, floors and related surfaces; empty trash; replace paper products as needed. Perform floor care (sweeping, mopping, stripping, scrubbing, waxing) and carpet/rug care (vacuuming, shampooing, spot-cleaning). Clean and disinfect restrooms, showers, laundry areas, kitchens, mirrors, and related fixtures; clean and maintain walls, ceilings, light fixtures, vents and other surfaces. Move and set up furniture and equipment (up to 40 lbs for standard setups; up to 240 lbs for certain team operations) and assist with residential/meeting room setups; follow checklists for amenities. Report damage and maintenance needs; clear minor drain stoppages; participate in custodial projects as assigned (lighting, blinds, fixtures, furniture cleanup). Assist with Summer Transition cleaning of student rooms: trash removal, furniture moving, dusting, window cleaning, and turnover tasks; ensure areas are cleaned and ready for occupancy. Contribute to Conference Operations by assisting with linens, room readiness, and related tasks as part of the custodial team. Occasional overtime and other custodial duties as requested by supervisor. Required Qualifications

Custodial cleaning operation experience, including use of custodial equipment such as buffers, floor machines, power washers, blowers, and vacuums. Knowledge of cleaning products and methods for tile, wood, cement, and carpet floors. Knowledge of safe work practices, PPE, and MSDS sheets. Ability to lift up to 25 lb and move up to 100 lb. Ability to learn and implement security procedures related to unlocking/locking and keys. Basic English skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) and ability to read MSDS and warning labels in English. Ability to understand and follow technical and safety documentation and instructions for equipment and chemicals. Clear communication skills and ability to work with or without supervision in various environments. Ability to work in a team and maintain respectful, professional, customer-friendly behavior. Excellent customer service skills and ability to take and follow through on customer requests. Ability to work within a team environment and adapt to campus operations. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in custodial services, preferably in college/university housing, hotel, or property management. Salary & Benefits
