Overview
As a Sous Chef with Wolfgang Puck Catering, you will play a key leadership role in the success of our Houston Catering Commissary, which services events ranging from intimate 10-person dinners to large-scale productions of 1,500 guests. This role is central to the commissary’s day-to-day operations—supporting breakfast and lunch service for downtown B&I clients, executing offsite events, and maintaining the highest culinary standards that Wolfgang Puck is known for. The Sous Chef assists in all phases of menu execution, ordering, inventory, and food preparation, while supervising and developing a team of 15 back-of-house associates. The position requires strong catering knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to interpret BEOs and collaborate with sales staff. Primarily Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with flexibility for offsite events, prep, and tastings. Responsibilities
Coordinate and participate in the preparation and cooking of a variety of menu items for both commissary and offsite catering. Supervise, train, motivate, and develop BOH associates to ensure consistency and excellence. Assist with planning, organizing, and executing menus, including tastings and new business opportunities. Oversee ordering, receiving, inventory management, and organization of product. Review and execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring communication with sales staff and flawless event execution. Implement and manage cost controls for both food and labor. Ensure compliance with all Health Department regulations and company standards for food quality, safety, and sanitation. Support culinary innovation by rolling out new catering and commissary programs in collaboration with the culinary and marketing team. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of culinary experience with at least 1 year in a management role. Proven experience in catering operations (small and large scale), with strong ability to execute BEOs. Skilled in ordering, inventory, and cost management. Strong supervisory, leadership, and coaching skills with a track record of managing teams of 10+ associates. Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation. ServSafe or Department of Health Certification preferred. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred. Benefits and Additional Information
