Overview
Adult Education Instructor at Montgomery College. This is a full-time, temporary position with benefits funded through June 30, 2026, located in Boyds, Maryland (Montgomery County Correctional Facility). Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 25 position. Responsibilities
Plan, develop and provide instruction in adult basic education in preparation for the GED exam or English language skills development. Plan and deliver instruction aligned with established curricula, materials, and assessment data to meet learner needs and goals. Complete detailed daily reports and adhere to all College policies and procedures and those set by the Montgomery County Department of Corrections. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. Two to three years of experience teaching English Language Arts or Social Studies for GED, English for Speakers of Other Languages, or Special Education. Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship. Preferred
Master’s degree in Education, Special Education or related field, or in GED-related areas (English Language Arts or Social Studies). Strong academic background in English Language Arts and Social Studies. Proven ability to deliver high-quality GED instruction addressing diverse adult learning needs with measurable outcomes. Experience with diverse and at-risk populations, preferably in correctional or similar institutional settings. Ability to provide instruction within a structured behavior management framework. Estimated salary range: $59,887-$77,830 annually. Initial placement between minimum and midpoint based on experience; maximum salary $95,773. Temporary position with benefits funded through June 30, 2026; continuation dependent on need and funding.
