Grocery Manager
at
Winn-Dixie . The role assists in the management of daily operations in the grocery department and supervises the grocery team with stocking and store conditioning. Responsibilities include promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions to increase customer confidence and loyalty, delivering fresh and appealing products, providing courteous and knowledgeable service, and executing merchandising plans while considering merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. This is a working management position that balances physical labor, delegation, team building and leadership, planning, and administrative work.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in creating an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated; ensure department is merchandised per plan; maintain product availability, freshness, quality, and value.
Train department associates on freshness, inventory levels, stocking and ordering, and shelf conditioning; assist customers in finding or suggesting products.
Promote trust and teamwork; communicate information; help establish goals for merchandising, sales, and profits; manage schedules to ensure customer service and department conditions during peak hours.
Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines; supervise in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
Perform daily and weekly administrative tasks (communications, training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders); monitor inventory and report discrepancies; ensure proper product temperatures and maintain temperature logs per policy.
Support safety programs; ensure compliance with food safety, USDA/COOL, and other regulatory requirements; manage recalls and withdrawals; report safety risks and accidents; ensure PPE usage; maintain equipment safety and address hazards.
Qualifications
Education: High School / GED required.
Experience: Supervisory experience 0-3 years preferred.
Language: English required; English & Spanish preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 18 years of age or older; authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check; ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently; strong customer service and interpersonal skills; basic math; computer proficiency; ability to handle stressful situations; food safety certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
Environment & Physical Demands Retail environment with varying conditions; standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs; some climbing and reaching; exposure to varying temperatures and cleaning chemicals as part of safety and sanitation requirements.
