Police Certification Physical Requirements:

Lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 100 lbs., sitting for long periods of time, walking for long periods of time, standing for long periods of time, handling intermittent periods of high levels of stress. Note: If grandfathered or currently KLEC certified, you may not be required to complete the physical fitness test portion of Police Officer Professional Standards (POPS). Police Officers on campus patrol work 12 hour shifts with rotating weekends off.

Must be able to work 7:00–19:00, 7:00–7:00, days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime for events. Job Summary:

University of Kentucky Police Officers are responsible for providing the University community with a safe and secure environment to work, live, and learn.

The department focuses on service and meeting the needs of the campus’s diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Major responsibilities include patrol and investigations, public relations and service, community-oriented policing, professional development and training, and report writing. Specific duties include foot, bike, and mobile patrol; responding to service calls; investigating crimes; presenting testimony in court; community relations; security and traffic control for university events; writing reports; training; and ongoing professional development. Officers shall positively interact, enhance relations, and represent the University with local law enforcement and community partners.
