Position Summary

Provides academic counseling and support for student participants to achieve goals of persistence and graduation.

Develops and implements college success and financial responsibility seminars focusing on academic support, financial literacy, and personal enrichment topics.

Develops and maintains an overview of university-wide academic support resources for program participants.

Collaborates with other campus programs, offices, and departments.

Serves as a liaison with the University's Tutorial and Supplemental Instruction Programs.

Assists participants who request support through tutoring or Supplemental Instruction and provides follow‑up services as needed.

Assists in the recruitment, screening, and selection of program participants.

Assists in the preparation of various program reports and evaluations.

Promotes program awareness and speaks to interested groups about TRIO/SSS.

Designs and implements cultural and academic enrichment activities for student participants while maintaining the social media component of our program to promote, highlight, and spotlight students and events.

Completes student contact documentation.

Will serve as project lead on various program‑related initiatives that will include collaboration, planning, organizing, and evaluation.

Will assist with developing and ensuring completion of evaluations related to program services.

Serves on committees as assigned or supported by the program director, travels with students for off‑campus events, and may have occasional evening or weekend work responsibilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

Minimum of one year of successful office experience, during which working with data, technology, and records management were of primary importance.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail.

Experience working with first‑generation, limited‑income students, or students with documented disabilities who have been historically underestimated in higher education.

Knowledgeable on graduate school application, admission, and financial assistance processes.

Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrates the ability to respond to supervision and utilize appropriate independence and autonomy in an office setting.
