Position Overview
Position Type: Teacher Aides/Assistants/Tutors/ Special Education Aides. Posted 10/14/2025. Location: Denali Elementary School. Date Available: ASAP. Closing Date: 10/20/2025.
Job Summary Assists in the care of physically and mentally disabled students.
Compensation and Benefits New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 6: $21.60 - $24.14 DOE.
Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by ESSA Negotiated Agreement.
Work Day: 7 hours per day. Work Year: 9 months.
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA).
New Hire Bonus: $2,000 paid after successful completion of first 30 days of employment.
Retention Bonus: $2,000 payable in June upon successful completion of current school year. Bonus prorated for part‑time employees.
Qualifications
Must meet one of the following:
High school diploma or equivalent and completion or ability to complete the ParaPro Assessment or the HELP within four (4) months of hire ,
Associate’s degree or higher , or
Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or equivalent.
Must be trained in and maintain recency of a District approved de‑escalation/crisis intervention program within six (6) months of hire.
Must have an understanding of developmental disabilities.
Must demonstrate proper lifting skills and ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly.
Must have empathy for special needs of disabled children and ability to communicate with physically and mentally disabled students.
If the vacancy lists signing skills, the applicant must have completed ASL I and ASL II.
