Independent Contractor Position Overview:

The Dari In-Person Interpreter is responsible for facilitating onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and the practitioners that serve them in a variety of settings. This contract position offers flexibility and the opportunity to expand your interpreting business with access to many sessions per day. Job Functions: Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions in a professional manner. Exhibit professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for sessions. Adapt quickly to new and changing situations. Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context. Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment. Respect and understand our LEP clients, their culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences. Maintain a strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting. Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions. Render accurate and correct concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol. Qualifications: Fluent in both Dari and English with strong verbal communication skills. Excellent listening and retention skills for high accuracy during interpretation. Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or possession of a national certification. Knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC). Must be at least 18 years old. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to read and write in Dari and English. Degree or certifications in interpreting practices. National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS. Completion of an accredited medical interpreting training course (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour accredited medical courses). Seniority level
