Founded in 1971, Centers for New Horizons, Inc. (Centers) is a nonprofit organization that assists children, youth, and families to become self-reliant. With 100+ full-time staff, most of whom live in or near its service communities, Centers provides programs in seven locations throughout the Bronzeville and Riverdale communities of Chicago's Southside that reach over 1,000 individuals daily.
Position Function
We are seeking a passionate and creative Preschool Teacher responsible for educating and nurturing the children in the Early Childcare Center. Ensure children have an opportunity to achieve, play, create, and be safe and healthy. The Teacher will foster a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment that focuses on promoting social, emotional and physical development for children aged 3-5 years.
Develop and implement age‑appropriate lesson plans that align with early learning standards.
Participate and cooperate in special events, activities, parent/teacher conferences as deemed necessary by the administration.
Foster a warm, welcoming classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
Promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth through play and educational activities.
Implement and carry out organizational, facility, and program objectives in the classroom.
Plan for the mental, social, physical, and emotional needs of the children served.
Maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
Prepare and maintain student progress reports, lesson plans, and other reports related to the classroom experience under the guidance of the classroom teacher(s).
Ensure and follow all safety and health guidelines as outlined by the agency and local regulations.
Participate in organizational staff committees and parent committees where appropriate.
Collaborate with teaching assistant, other teachers, and administration.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development (Required).
Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Early Childhood (Preferred).
Gateway ECE Credential level 5 (Minimum).
Pursuing PEL (Must provide evidence).
Salary
Compensation is commensurate based on experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The salary is $65,000 annually.

Work Environment
The typical work environment in the classroom, but some locations will be outside of the classroom. The noise level will vary depending on the location. External vehicles, office equipment, machinery, telephone and children playing produce noise.
