Public Safety Deputy
Public Safety Bureau is responsible for a wide variety of law enforcement functions across the Salt Lake Valley. Deputies transition between law enforcement and client‑focused community policing as situations demand. This position is challenging and rewarding; duties include:
Responsibilities
General law enforcement at government campuses
Arresting, transporting, and booking individuals into a custodial facility as needed
Court security, including bailiff services
Executive protection for county council, elected officials, judges, and other employees
Monitoring select county infrastructures to help ensure the safety of Salt Lake County citizens, visitors, and employees
Conducting comprehensive security assessments of vulnerabilities at county facilities
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen or have lived in the country for at least five years and have legal authorization to work
Must be at least 21 years of age by the date of hire
Must be a resident of the State of Utah at the time of hire
Must possess a valid Utah Driver's license at time of hire
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Must not have any disqualifying criminal history
Must pass the PT Test (Vertical Jump 14.5 inches, Push‑Up 14, Isometric Plank 30 seconds, 1.5‑mile run under 16 minutes and 11 seconds)
