Overview
Performs professional and administrative work augmenting the primary health care physician in making medical diagnoses and dispensing medical treatment; provides medical care; diagnoses illness; orders tests; refers patients; maintains records and files; coordinates work with the primary physician; performs related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Local Health Director and a primary or secondary physician. Supervision is exercised over all division personnel. Responsibilities
Provide medical care, diagnose illnesses, order tests, refer patients, and maintain accurate records. Coordinate work with the primary physician and supervise division personnel as assigned. Perform related duties as required to support the medical team and program operations. Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking, principles and practices of general medicine and disease states as they relate to the area of work. Thorough knowledge of health appraisal tools, laboratory tests and findings, advanced physical assessment, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and therapeutic procedures as related to the area of work. Thorough knowledge and ability to plan a regime of care based on assessment and findings. Ability to teach and counsel individuals, families and groups in areas of health maintenance, preventive medicine, and care of the sick. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, the general public, other professionals, and associates. Professional licensure: Physician Assistant licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board OR Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife approved to practice by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board; AND one (1) year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider. Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Additional Requirements

Physical and work requirements include light work with exertion up to 20 pounds; ability to stoop, crouch, reach, walk, lift, finger, and perform repetitive motions; ability to communicate verbally and to perceive information through hearing and vision; exposure to bloodborne pathogens with potential need for PPE.
