POLICE OFFICER - LATERAL (ARIZONA AND OUT-OF-STATE) PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION IN THIS PACKET (RC# 902321) Online applications will be accepted beginning July 17, 2025, and must be submitted online by 11:59 PM (Arizona Time) on October 15, 2025. ANNUAL ENTRANCE SALARY $77,026 Plus, one step for each full year of previous sworn service. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 20.5 years of age at time of application and 21 years of age at time of graduation from the police academy. Must be a US citizen at time of application. Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent at time of application. Must meet all City of Tempe and Arizona POST minimum requirements to test. APPLICANT INFORMATION Have at least 20/80 vision correctable to 20/20 with hard contact lenses or glasses; or 20/200 vision correctable to 20/20 with soft contact lenses (at time of application). Be of sound physical and mental health. Have a valid Arizona driver license by start of employment with the City of Tempe. May require the completion of initial police training academy if selected. You are required to have a state-issued driver license or identification card, a US passport or a US military identification at all phases in order to test. If you are claiming veteran or disabled veteran preference points, you must provide a copy of your DD214 (Member 4 version) for verification.
