Licensed-Only Facilities Surveyor – Starting Market Rate Salary $60,431.88. This position protects residents’ health and safety by conducting on-site inspections and investigations in Texas long-term care facilities to assess compliance with state and federal laws and rules.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of a program manager, conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual comprehensive surveys in facilities to determine compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
Complete inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies and narratives to support regulatory findings.
Communicate clearly and accurately with internal and external stakeholders to provide, exchange, or verify information and resolve issues related to services in Texas long-term care facilities.
Conduct exit conferences with facility staff regarding findings.
Visit long-term care facilities to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
Perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others, including publications, assessments, and reports.
Testify at hearings or in court proceedings to provide information regarding policy, history, findings, or activities when required.
Complete referrals for the conduct, as appropriate.
Be available for on-call duties for emergencies such as weather events or high-priority situations in facilities or at providers.
In emergency licensure actions, assist with non-skilled care and oversight to residents in a facility if applicable.
Travel up to 80% statewide; occasional overnight and weekend travel may be required.

Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment.
Proficiency in using a computer for writing reports and data management.
Ability to integrate complex regulatory concepts, procedures, or processes and multi-task with competing priorities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and others.
Knowledge of program regulations, survey techniques, and acceptable professional standards of care.
Skill in operating personal computers and software.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements Or Certifications
Valid Driver's License
Experience And Education Requirements
Initial screening criteria: Experience in conducting investigations related to quality outcomes.
Experience in quality assurance, compliance, oversight, or auditing is preferred.
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred.
Additional Information
Flexibility in work hours is required; travel up to 80% statewide, including overnight and weekend travel. On-call duties for emergencies or high-priority situations may be required. Must have reliable transportation.
This position may offer a compressed workweek of four 10-hour days.
