Overview
LTCR Geriatric Licensed Only Facilities Surveyor – Texas Health and Human Services Join HHSC as a Licensed-Only Facilities Surveyor to protect residents’ health and safety by conducting on-site inspections and investigations in Texas long-term care facilities to assess compliance with state and federal laws and rules. Responsibilities
Conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual comprehensive surveys of facilities. Prepare written reports detailing deficiencies, recommended remedies, and narratives to support regulatory findings. Verify correction of cited regulatory violations through follow-up visits. Participate in surveys, inspections, and investigations with assigned team; accept assignments as needed. Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to provide or verify information and resolve issues. Testify at hearings or in court proceedings when required to provide information on policy, procedures, findings, or activities. Perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulations; exercise professional judgment; and make sound decisions. Ability to work independently and manage multiple activities with competing priorities. Proficiency in writing reports and using computers for documentation. Knowledge of program regulations and survey techniques; knowledge of acceptable professional standards of care. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and others. Strong communication skills to convey information accurately to various audiences. Qualifications
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university (preferred). Experience in investigations related to quality outcomes and quality assurance/compliance/oversight (preferred). Valid Driver's License. Additional Information
Travel: Up to 80% statewide travel; may include overnight and weekend travel. Work hours: Flexibility required; compressed workweek of four 10-hour days is possible. On-call duties for emergencies or high-priority situations may be required. Reliable transportation required.
