Overview
Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Area Curriculum & Instruction Specialist to join our award-winning Special Education team. The role focuses on leading curriculum, instruction, and assessment strategies across an assigned region to support student achievement. The position reports to the program and works collaboratively with on-site education teams, families, and school locations. Starting salary : $75,000 - $85,000 /year based on experience.
Program locations : Clovis, San Jose, Pacifica, Fairfield, Redding. Location note : Spectrum Center Schools is a division of ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education. Responsibilities
Serve as instructional leader for the assigned area; implement Spectrum’s educational policies, procedures and standards aligned to California State Frameworks/Content Standards, CDE and applicable educational law. Provide support, guidance, and supervision to teachers in educational assessment, curriculum, instruction, classroom systems and state standards; deliver training, coaching and feedback on evidence-based teaching strategies. Oversee formal and informal academic assessment procedures to monitor student progress and achievement. Provide training and support to on-site education teams in using student data for instructional decision-making and evidence-based instructional practices to achieve student growth. Oversee implementation of on-site intervention instruction and curriculum with emphasis on direct instruction in reading, writing, spelling, and math for students below grade level. Research and recommend evidence-based curricula that meet Department of Education requirements for the assigned area. Oversee area education teams on lesson plans, transcripts, report cards, grading systems, and progress reports. Guide campus instructional staff in developing long-term and short-term classroom goals and set priorities and timelines for implementation. Conduct regular quality assurance checks at the student, staff, classroom, and site level with recommendations for improvement. Assess training needs of instructional staff and design development plans including training, follow-up monitoring, coaching and feedback. Provide training and support to education coordinators, teachers, and related services providers in the IEP process, including IEP goal review, meeting participation, and transition planning support. Support implementation of classroom systems including tracking behavior improvement and reinforcement. Maintain effective communication with parents, care providers and district personnel, representing the company positively and professionally. Attend required on-site and regional meetings and participate in staff development to maintain core competencies. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support program success and organizational improvement. Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in education, special education, educational leadership or a closely related field. Meet all state and district requirements for licensing and/or credentials. Licensed currently or in process for a valid California special education credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe). Valid California state driver’s license or ability to obtain one. Experience in development, assessment, and management of curriculum, content areas and instruction. Experience and knowledge in special education services and compliance for students with disabilities. Experience and skill in working with students with IEPs. Proven ability to develop and implement effective education plans for diverse student needs and goals. Knowledge of state and/or national education standards. Strong relationship-building skills with students, parents, teachers and community partners. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organization and attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication, organizational, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Knowledge of relevant technology including instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment. Spectrum Center Schools
