The Head of Global Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) leads the strategic direction, governance, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs worldwide. This role ensures regulatory compliance across jurisdictions and seeks to set industry benchmarks in EHS performance, maintaining safe, healthy, and sustainable workplaces. The Head of EHS shapes policies, guides global teams, and fosters a culture of proactive risk management and responsible stewardship. Reporting directly to the Global Director of Facilities & EHS, this role serves as a critical advisor on sustainability, reputation, and organizational resilience. Key Responsibilities
Formulate and execute global EHS policies, strategies, and roadmaps in line with company goals and regulations. Lead the Global EHS organization, providing guidance, oversight, and professional development for EHS team members. Monitor, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics, trends, and compliance status to executive leadership and the board. Manage global EHS risk assessments and lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions. Ensure readiness for EHS audits and inspections; oversee closure of audit findings and implementation of corrective measures. Develop and deliver EHS communications, training, and awareness campaigns to drive engagement and accountability. Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, external auditors, industry groups, and community organizations. Lead sustainability and climate action initiatives, including waste reduction, resource conservation, and energy efficiency improvements. Prepare and present EHS reports, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior management. Oversee emergency preparedness and response programs, including crisis communication and business continuity planning. Manage global EHS projects, budgets, and resource allocation in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Continuously review and improve EHS management systems, policies, and procedures in line with international best practices. Lead the quarterly Global EHS Steering Committee and monthly EHS Global Working Group. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline, required Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, preferred Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) Experience
12+ years of progressive experience in EHS management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in a multinational or multi-site organization. Proven track record of developing and implementing global EHS strategies and achieving measurable improvements in EHS performance. Substantial experience with regulatory compliance and EHS management systems across diverse geographies and sectors. Demonstrated ability to lead multicultural and multidisciplinary teams in a matrixed environment. Experience in crisis management, incident investigation, and stakeholder engagement. Background in sustainability, climate action, or corporate social responsibility initiatives is desirable. Current Benefits at UDC
