Adjunct- Hospitality Management Austin Community College is a public two‑year institution that serves a multicultural population of approximately 41,000 credit students each Fall and Spring semester. Job Description Summary Responsible to prepare and deliver small hospitality business management coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline‑appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success and creating an environment that promotes belonging for all.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

Prepare and teach courses in the field of hospitality management to a multicultural student population based on the department’s approved course learning outcomes.

Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.

Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on protected categories.

Remain current in the field through a variety of professional development activities.

Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, or associate vice chancellor.

Additional Duties

Capable of specific instruction of the permits and licensing needed to open and conduct business for food‑related hospitality products.

Ability to create and instruct in the preparation of a business plan proposal to ask for new business funding.

Technology

Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.

Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Hotel/Restaurant Administration, or Culinary Arts.

Associate degree or higher in Business Management and 3 years non‑teaching hospitality or culinary arts work experience.

Associate degree or Certificate in one of these areas and 3 years non‑teaching hospitality or culinary arts work experience.

Required Work Experience

Three years or more non‑teaching hospitality or culinary arts work experience.

Training experience for employees.

Other Requirements

Preference for candidates that have owned or operated a small business with a food service emphasis.

Work is routinely performed in a classroom or laboratory setting.
