The College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) is the first of its kind in the nation; uniting people, technology and knowledge to address the challenges of the 21st century. ETEC is the $180M research, instructional and entrepreneurial complex in which CEHC resides, providing our faculty state of the art laboratory and teaching spaces. CEHC seeks applicants in the Information Sciences & Technology Department (IST) for a Lecturer in Library and Information Services. The candidate will teach courses across core areas of information science, including but not limited to organizational leadership, research strategies, information environments, and public policy. The candidate will provide service to the IST Department, College, and University and may also facilitate graduate/undergraduate interdisciplinary research projects; and help lead co-curricular activities.

Responsibilities Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses across core areas of information science, contributing to MSIS and Informatics LIS curricula, and providing service to the IST Department, College and University. The candidate may facilitate graduate/undergraduate interdisciplinary research projects and help lead co-curricular activities.

Teach courses across core areas of information science, including organizational leadership, research strategies, information environments, and public policy.

Qualifications Job Requirements

Strong understanding of library and information science principles and practices.

Excellent communication and presentation skills for effective teaching.

Ability to integrate technology into library science education.

Minimum Qualifications

MA, MS or PhD in Information Science, Library Science, Archival Science, Informatics, Education, English, History or a closely related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 8/15/26. Candidates who do not hold a degree by this date will not be considered.

3+ years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in library and information science or related field.

Evidence of teaching in multiple modalities (in-person, online, and hybrid).

Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.

Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in student mentoring and/or co-curricular activities for student success.

1+ years of experience with a wide range of information tools, including various library systems (e.g. ILS, LMS), digital asset management platforms, metadata editors, research databases, and/or data management/visualization software.

1+ years of experience with assessment tools for evaluating student success and program effectiveness.

Demonstrated experience in curricular development in the MSIS program and/or the undergraduate informatics concentration in Library and Information Services.

Demonstrated experience in designing and revising curricula that integrate emerging trends and technologies (e.g., AI, data literacy, open access).

Additional Information Professional Rank and Salary Range: Lecturer (10 Months), A0, Salary commensurate with experience.
