JOB SUMMARY
The Maître D will lead the party at Barcelona Wine Bar, overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's vibe and hospitality operations. At Barcelona Wine Bar, hospitality is about creating genuine connections and memorable experiences. The Maître D will ensure every guest leaves satisfied; you will be empowered to do whatever it takes to deliver the most amazing experience. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities & Duties
Own the vibe of the entire restaurant operations to create an environment that fosters personal connections with guests and exceeds expectations.
Maintain energy by setting the tone to deliver best-in-class hospitality.
Exceed guest expectations by delivering an experience guests did not know they wanted.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the menu to provide a standout dining experience during service.
Work with the restaurant management team to maximize guest satisfaction, including real-time communication of inquiries, complaints, and special requests.
Participate in and lead meetings on best practices for hospitality.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Availability for timely communication with guests.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, late nights, holidays, and peak hours; ability to adapt for events.
A track record of fostering genuine guest connections to increase sales volume.
Skills & Abilities
Guest Service Excellence: focus on creating exceptional experiences and building loyalty.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: strong critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
Creative thinking to adapt to changing priorities and provide memorable service.
Communication: excellent interpersonal skills for guests, team members, and management.
Education & Experience
3+ years with prior experience as a Maître d’, lead host, or front-of-house supervisor preferred.
Wine (WSET) or beverage certifications (Cicerone) are a plus.
Knowledge of retail/restaurant/hospitality training trends and best practices is required.
