Corrections Officer (Full time)

County of Blair . Job opportunities exist for full-time hires who will provide care, custody, and control of inmates in the Blair County Prison. Responsibilities
Maintain security and safety in an assigned housing block Monitor and patrol an assigned area; observe and supervise inmate behavior during bathing, meals, recreation, and work release Monitor to detect or prevent disturbances or signs of duress or escape Maintain records and prepare logs Escort inmates to and from court hearings, medical appointments, and other institutions Search inmates, inmate mail, and areas for contraband Attend training Qualifications
High school diploma or GED Preferably completed Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Title 37 training or equivalent on-the-job experience within corrections Able to remain alert during shifts that could last up to 16 consecutive hours Capable of sustaining the physical requirements of the position (standing and walking on concrete, working under pressure with frequent interruptions, exposure to odors and bodily fluids, restraining inmates) Fluent in English, attentive to detail, and able to function independently according to established procedures Seniority level
