Corrections Officer
Join our team at Forsyth County as a Corrections Officer. This highly visible certified position involves the care, custody, and control of inmates. Essential Job Functions
Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates. Conduct security/WBC checks, classify inmates, and perform cell area searches. Confiscate contraband; monitor and supervise inmates. Operate electronic surveillance equipment and escort inmates within the facility. Communicate with inmates and ensure inmate safety. Conduct inmate searches and evaluate inmate behavior. Perform sanitation inspections and accommodate the needs of disabled inmates. Process special risk inmates; supervise and monitor civilian personnel within units. Maintain documentation of inmate activities, logs, JMS reports, and inspections. Supervise cell cleanup and transport inmates to other locations when needed. Complete disciplinary reports on inmates. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Florida Statutes, County Codes, and Florida Model Jail Standards. Knowledge of weapon and gun safety; officer safety skills; radio procedures; application and use of force. CPR/First Aid proficiency. Ability to listen and comprehend radio traffic. Interviewing and interrogation skills. Knowledge of computer software and hardware systems. Ability to relate well to the public. Time management and sound decision‑making skills. Short/long term memory. Ability to detect odors. Minimum Requirements
Physical skills: effective verbal, written, and visual communication; ability to use force as necessary; hearing ability at normal level; vision correctable to 20/30 in each eye. Must meet all physical standards required for the job. Minimum qualifications: graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and a CJSTC Corrections Certification. Unescorted CJIS clearance authorized by FDLE is required. Occasional travel within or outside County areas may be required. ADA Statement
