Outside Truck Parts Sales Representative Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outside Truck Parts Sales Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for selling heavy-duty and medium-duty truck parts to existing and prospective customers within a designated territory focusing on Delaware and Eastern Maryland. This position requires a self-starter with strong knowledge of truck parts, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships. Primary Responsibilities
Develop and execute a sales plan to meet or exceed sales goals within an assigned territory (Delaware and Eastern Maryland). Identify and pursue new business opportunities with fleet operators, repair shops, municipalities, and independent truck owners. Maintain regular contact with existing customers to ensure satisfaction and repeat business. Provide technical assistance and product recommendations based on customer needs. Stay up-to-date on product knowledge, industry trends, pricing, and competitors. Prepare and deliver sales presentations, quotes, and follow-ups. Collaborate with parts team and delivery teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activity, and account information using CRM tools. Attend industry events, trade shows, and training sessions as required. Share leads across functions such as trucks sales, leasing, rental, and service departments. Submit weekly reports to Senior Management outlining activity/concerns. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Accurate math skills relating to inventory, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Ability to obtain forklift certification, and operate various material handling equipment. Ability to maintain organization with competing priorities. Strong communication skills required to inform management of issues and to inform internal and external customers with update statuses of their orders. Ability to use mechanical measuring devices such as micrometers, scales, tape measures and understand dimensions. Accurately enter information into computer systems. Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is a plus. 4+ years of experience in outside sales, preferably in truck parts, heavy-duty equipment, or automotive parts. Strong knowledge of truck parts and mechanical systems (brakes, suspension, drivetrain, etc.). Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills. Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management abilities. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Proficiency with CRM software and basic Microsoft Office tools. Working Conditions
Frequent Travel in given territory. Noise level is moderate to more than moderate as parts are near shop area. At times can be exposed to fumes. Will need to work in different weather conditions related to supporting customers.
