Responsibilities:
To perform the general duties necessary for the efficient operation of the Company’s retail stores.
Cashier Duties: To operate cash register, receive payment for purchases and record sales and other transactions.
Production/Backroom: Sort and hang at least 125 garments an hour with a minimum quality standard of 80%; check, sort, price electrical equipment and small wares and prepare them for display; transfer merchandise from the back room to the sales floor; ensure the workstation is clean and empty at the end of shift; rotate store merchandise as directed by store management.
Sales Floor: Place garments, housewares, etc. on proper floor racks and shelves and restock as necessary; remove empty hangers from racks on sales floor and return them to the production area; assist in security by staying aware of customer activities and reporting any suspicious activity or theft to store management.
Housekeeping: Dispose of trash and unwanted merchandise; break down cardboard boxes and place them into the recycling container; keep the store clean and hazard‑free by vacuuming, mopping, dusting, including cleaning bathrooms; keep aisles free of debris.
Customer Service: Greet donors and assist them in bringing donations into the store, issue receipts; assist customers with general information.
General: Follow company policies and safety procedures; attend regularly as scheduled.
Skills and Abilities:
Interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
Market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with store personnel and motivate them to their best performance.
Read, write and communicate clearly in English.
Work a flexible schedule on short notice, including days, nights and weekends.
Lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
Use repetitive hand movements for buttoning, sorting, hanging and zipping garments.
Engage in prolonged standing, walking and frequent bending, stooping and stretching.
Have vision corrected to within normal limits.
Function in a hectic work environment.
Have knowledge of men, women, and children clothing as well as furniture and household items.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Prior work experience in the service industry preferred but not required.
Must successfully complete Retail training.
Working Conditions: Considerable physical exertion, exposure to donated goods and materials. Alternate work schedule may include working at an attended donation station with no prior notice.
