AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for preparing and maintaining the surgical area. This position scrubs and acts as the first assistant to the physician during procedures. Additionally, this role assists the RN in technical functions related to patient care in the OR. Responsibilities: Positions patients for optimal surgical exposure while ensuring comfort and safety. Pads pressure points and guards against nerve damage to prevent injury. Prepares and maintains the surgical area, including scrubbing for procedures, setting up the operating room, and cleaning instruments and equipment post-procedure. Selects and applies appropriate wound dressings and secures drainage systems to tissue. Assists with closure of body planes using various suturing techniques and materials as directed by the surgeon. Participates in volume replacement or auto-transfusion techniques as needed. Assists with hemostasis by clamping, cauterizing, tying, ligating vessels, and applying hemostatic agents. Provides visualization of the operative site through proper placement and securing of retractors, packing with sponges, and digital manipulation of tissue. Qualifications: The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: High School Grad or Equiv Required or Technical/Vocational School Required 2+ Work Experience Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Required Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Cert Required Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) Required or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) Required or ABSA Surgical Assistant (SA) Required
