POSITION: Medical Billing Specialist (3 positions) LOCATION: Nespelem Health Center, 6 month training in Nespelem, WA, with possibility of working in other districts upon completion of training. SALARY: $21.82 to $23.85 per hour DOE REPORTS TO: Revenue Cycle Supervisor Basic Functions: This is a Non-Exempt position. Performs clerical standards and procedures of the Medical Billing Office through direct contact with eligible programs using computer-aided data entry screens. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Training: Typically requires an AA Degree Experience: Requires 12 months billing and coding experience with Anatomy and Pathophysiology training Certification: Requires a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certificate from the American Academy of Professional Coders or a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certificate from the American Health Information Management Association or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire and maintain certification throughout employment Licenses: May require valid driver's license and eligibility for the Tribes vehicle insurance and maintenance thereof Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and pathophysiology, medical and behavioral health services, provider specialties, and insurance terminology Knowledge of third-party billing regulations and ability to stay up to date with regulations Ability to maintain working knowledge of current changes in coding and billing requirements from Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers Knowledge of medical claims processing practices, procedures, and terminology Working knowledge of office clerical procedures and computer-aided office productivity software Strong writing skills for basic business correspondence Proficient math skills to compute totals, extensions, portions, ratios, quotients, and percentages Strong interpersonal skills to convey policies, work cooperatively with others on accounting transactions Ability to perform the functions of the position and to apply and review diagnostic and procedural coding using approved coding tools Ability to operate computer software applications related to office requirements and Revenue Cycle Management; capable of multitasking and following through to completion Ability to complete assigned workload accurately and with minimal supervision Effective verbal and written communication; ability to analyze and solve problems Ability to provide reports on assigned program accounts regarding unpaid balance, denials, adjustments, and provider activity quarterly or upon request Seniority level
