Overview
Personal Financial Counselor; Fort Riley, KS — Magellan Health. This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, delivering counseling and education to military service members and their families. Services include one-on-one counseling, briefings and presentations, and referrals outside counseling sessions. The counselor works with installation leadership and branch POCs to ensure the program meets installation needs and remains within scope. Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families. Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences. Develop and provide informational financial materials for service members and families. Coordinate, publicize and deliver a wide range of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and other events per DoDI 1322.34). Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication methods (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications) as appropriate and authorized. Manage duty to warn situations per DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues from assigned installations. Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. May consider an associate degree plus 4 years' experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of bachelor's degree. 3+ years of financial counseling experience. U.S. citizen and fluent in English. If required by contract, bilingual in English and Spanish. Ability to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation. One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). General Job Information
