Real Estate Property Accountant / Bookkeeper

to join our growing team. This individual will play a critical role in managing day-to-day accounting functions and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. We are specifically looking for someone with

5+ years

of accounting experience within real estate, a strong property management background, and direct experience in tenant relations. This is

NOT

an entry-level role — we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities: Manage daily accounting operations and ensure general ledger accuracy Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Monitor and analyze property financials, cash flow, and budget variances Perform bank and account reconciliations Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversee AP/AR processes, including vendor invoices and tenant billings Ensure timely payments, collections, and recurring charge processing Track outstanding balances and provide weekly reporting on commitments Lease & Rent Administration Support rent collection and reconciliation of operating expenses (CAM) Review tax-related lease reporting and assist with year-end rent roll data Liaise with tenants on billing and payment matters, including government programs (e.g., Section 8, HPD, City Pheps) Manage relationships with vendors, tenants, and third-party service providers Coordinate utilities, taxes, licenses, and other operational needs Qualifications 5+ years of accounting experience in real estate

government rental programs

(Section 8, HPD, City Pheps) is highly preferred Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field (preferred) Proficiency in

QuickBooks

(required),

Buildium,

or similar real estate/accounting software (preferred) Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analysis capabilities Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
