Accountability Statement The incumbent is responsible for originating residential first mortgage and equity loans and participating in related business development activities. They ensure members receive quality mortgage loan origination servicing in accordance with VyStar policies, practices, and procedures. They counsel members and obtain the necessary information to evaluate credit applications. Essential Job Functions

Originate residential mortgage loans and solicit through contacts with realtors, builders, developers, and referrals. Provide quality service to members seeking residential mortgage loans. Interview applicants to gather financial information, analyze credit data, and complete the loan application in the origination software. Counsel members and answer questions about mortgage programs. Obtain additional documentation as needed. Provide required disclosures electronically or in paper if declined electronically. Maintain communication with the processor and inform members of loan status. Act as the main contact for members, documenting communication in the origination software. Assist the processor and closer to obtain documentation, ensuring a smooth process. Communicate loan status proactively. Attend mortgage loan closings with members. Review monthly production reports with management to ensure goals are met. Cross-sell other credit union services. Demonstrate VyStar Excellence behaviors and support team members. Adhere to VyStar core values and ethics. Understand department and credit union goals, and work towards attainment. Recommend process improvements and increased efficiencies. Perform other duties as assigned. Proactively identify, assess, manage, and report risks within your domain, supporting a healthy risk culture and compliance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Minimum two years in mortgage industry, preferably as a loan officer or interviewer, with proven production and customer contact experience. Must be goal-oriented and self-disciplined with excellent communication skills. Must be familiar with mortgage payment calculators, PC, and copy machines. Knowledge of conventional, VA, FHA, and equity loans, along with regulations, private mortgage insurance, and secondary market guidelines, is required. Able to start producing consistently within six months with prior experience. Education

High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Must meet and maintain NMLS registration and comply with S.A.F.E. Act regulations. Excellent communication skills and ability to interface effectively with members, realtors, and builders. Continuing education and memberships in mortgage associations are encouraged.
