Overview
The Syndicated Bank Loan Closer is responsible for managing the end-to-end settlement process of primary and secondary syndicated loan trades. This role ensures timely and accurate closing of trades while maintaining compliance with market standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of LSTA/LMA documentation, loan systems, and settlement protocols. Key Responsibilities
Trade Settlement & Closing: Coordinate with counterparties, agents, custodians, and internal teams to facilitate timely settlement of syndicated loan trades; review and reconcile trade details, allocations, and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness; monitor and manage settlement pipelines to minimize failures and reduce settlement times. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all required documentation (e.g., assignment agreements, funding memos, consents) is properly executed and archived; adhere to LSTA/LMA guidelines and internal policies for trade closing and settlement; escalate discrepancies or delays to appropriate stakeholders and propose solutions. Systems & Reporting: Utilize loan settlement platforms (e.g., ClearPar, IHS Markit, WSO, Loan IQ) to process and track trades; maintain accurate records of trade activity and generate reports for management and audit purposes; support system enhancements and participate in UAT testing as needed. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for front office, middle office, legal, and operations teams regarding trade status and settlement issues; build strong relationships with agent banks and counterparties to facilitate smooth trade execution. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline settlement workflows and reduce operational risk; contribute to team initiatives focused on automation, standardization, and best practices. Essential Experience & Technical Skills
Required: 3–5 years of experience in syndicated loan operations or trade settlement Familiarity with LSTA/LMA standards and syndicated loan lifecycle Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in Excel and loan settlement platforms (ClearPar, WSO, Loan IQ, etc.) Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field Compensation & Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to applicable plan terms. About MetLife Investment Management (MIM)
