The Billing and Coding Specialist II reviews chart notes and validates clinician-selected codes and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with legal and insurance requirements.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, working 8-hour shifts between 6 am and 6 pm (PST).

DUTIES

Validate charges and documentation to ensure billing codes are accurate before claims submission. Clarify with providers or clinical staff as needed.

Apply coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10) and payer-specific coding requirements accurately.

Code for all services at WHA, including office visits, wellness exams, procedures, injections, supplies, labs, imaging, behavioral health, maternal-fetal medicine, hospital services, and ambulatory surgical centers.

Assist with prior authorization coding and accounts receivable denial reviews.

Add notes to accounts when claims are changed or reviewed.

Provide feedback on coding errors or trends to supervisors.

Participate in continuing education to enhance coding skills.

Maintain accuracy and productivity according to WHA's Coding Standards.

Understand the EPIC Cadence platform and Epic Resolute module, including patient registration and guarantor snapshot.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Coding certification (CPC) through AAPC.

At least three (3) years of medical coding experience.

Two (2) years of experience in OBGYN/MFM specialty.

Experience with Epic Software is preferred.
