The underwriter position is an interim level role focused on risk selection to build a profitable book of business while delivering high levels of service to insureds and the agency force. The role involves monitoring policy issuance, endorsing requests, loss-control follow-up, and tracking loss activity. The position offers development toward senior underwriter responsibilities. Responsibilities

Risk determination based on peril identification, hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and account information. Provide high-level risk selection and pricing for new and renewal business within underwriting guidelines using tools such as internet research, engineering, IRMI, and underwriting manuals. Operate within established Lines of Authority (LOA) and obtain required approvals for items outside LOA. Monitor losses and take appropriate underwriting action to prevent recurrence. Utilize computer programs (ImageRight, Word, Outlook, Excel) to support underwriting activities. Process and deliver quotes and denials to agents; approve tasks related to servicing accounts such as endorsements and cancellations. Communicate clearly and accurately with agents and insureds, both orally and in writing. Maintain awareness of marketplace changes to identify potential new business opportunities. Perform work logically, orderly, and skillfully; maintain high quality of work product. Demonstrate good business acumen and competence across multiple lines of insurance. Manage assignments to ensure accuracy and timely completion; maintain client focus with agents, policyholders, and partners. Show strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to communicate with diverse individuals. Safeguard confidential information; be detail-oriented with initiative and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Maintain polished and professional written and verbal communication; fluency in reading and writing English is required. Bachelor's degree preferred; proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and, preferably, Access. 1 to 3 years of P&C experience preferred. Qualifications
