Job Title Accountant VI – Accounts Receivable (AR)

Salary $6,900.00 – $7,245.00 per month (Texas-B-24)

Shift Day (Weekdays M-F 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Responsibilities

Maintain and balance financial statements, reports, schedules, and exhibits.

Review, prepare, and process funds moves to chart of accounts provided by program areas.

Audit accounting documents for accuracy and compliance with departmental policies, procedures, state and federal statutes.

Classify, code, post, and balance financial and accounting documents.

Prepare deposit slips, receive cash, and maintain cash‑control records.

Research and reconcile discrepancies in accounts, bank statements, or appropriation balances; report findings.

Work closely with AR Director, CFO, accounting departments, and state‑run program areas to accurately record revenue and refunds.

Perform related work as assigned; occasional after‑hours work may be required.

Qualifications

Five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, auditing, or budgeting; preference for State Government or Non‑Profit experience.

Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a major in accounting, finance, marketing, management, or related business field (or equivalent experience).

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), governmental accounting, and fiscal programs.

Proficiency with automated accounting systems such as CAPPS Financials, PeopleSoft Financials, ARTS, and USAS.

Skill in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Crystal Reports, SQL coding where applicable).

Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data; communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Experience with complex financial debits, credits, and reconciliations; knowledge of federal fund allocation and reconciliation.
