Base pay range $40.00/hr - $60.00/hr

Location:

Chantilly, VA (Hybrid - 3 days in office)

Compensation:

$40/hr - $60/hr

Qualifications 5+ years of payroll experience with multi-state compliance

Technical Skills SUI registration, payroll audits, state tax correction, negotiating with state agencies

Systems Paylocity (required), Excel, general payroll/tax platforms

Must-Haves Direct experience managing multi-state payroll and resolving SUI issues

Nice-to-Haves

Experience recovering overpaid state taxes or managing audits from state labor/tax agencies

Job Description

Register client for employment and SUI tax accounts in multiple U.S. states

Audit and resolve incorrect SUI tax allocations (e.g., VA SUI applied to out-of-state employees)

Recover overpayments from Virginia and other states as identified

Negotiate with state tax authorities to resolve missed or late payments, and bring accounts into compliance

Coordinate with internal payroll and finance teams to streamline compliance and documentation

Use Paylocity to analyze and correct payroll data and ensure accurate tax reporting

Establish scalable processes to support continued state expansion

Length of assignment: 4–8 weeks (potential for extension)

Work hours: Standard business hours with some flexibility

Parking: Free parking at Chantilly office
