Description Provides leadership and expertise to direct a Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and compliance program for all Solid Organ Transplant Programs and the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Program under the Department of Transplant Services. Ensures compliance with all regulations, guidelines, and standards of the licensing, accrediting, credentialing, and regulatory agencies with particular focus on CMS Conditions of Participation (COPs) for transplant centers, UNOS/OPTN policies and bylaws, and Joint Commission rules for Certification in Ventricular Assist Device. Ensures adherence to UCLA internal policies for safety and corporate compliance. Serves as a Quality Assurance (QA) and regulatory resource department wide within the framework of a QA and compliance unit. Activities of a quality program include development, maintenance, review and approval of SOPs, performance improvement initiatives, training programs, competency assessment programs, validation and revalidation plans, corrective and preventive action plans, and tracking and management of adverse events. Performs audits of operational and fiscal functions. Reviews and evaluates reports of adverse events, investigates as appropriate per the Department’s Adverse Event Policy in conjunction with the Hospital Quality Department. Collects and analyzes quality metrics, works closely with the Solid Organ Transplant/VAD Physician and Nursing Leadership prepare reports and monthly dashboards for the solid organ transplant programs. Prepares each program’s Annual Report, develops each program’s annual QAPI plan and ensures adherence. Applies process improvement tools and techniques.

The manager’s broad operational scope involves direct contact and varied relationships on multiple department/program and organizational levels. The manager maintains open, collaborative, responsive, and consultative working relationships with the staff and program leadership of all the solid organ programs.

Salary Range: $140,200-$331,800 (annually)
