Leads, oversees and performs a variety of complex technical and manual labor tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of water meters. Ensure meter operations comply with regulatory and accuracy standards. Responds to escalated customer concerns and inquiries in a timely and efficient manner. Troubleshoots all operating functions of the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems. Review system data to identify possible issues. Assist Supervisor with tasks as assigned. Work closely with Meter Services Supervisor to assign work orders, verify tasks that are completed timely and ensure all necessary information is included on work orders. Perform new meter sets, changeouts, disconnects/reconnects. Complete meter readings reprogram radios and troubleshoot communication errors. Assist with maintaining storehouse, including loss prevention and inventory control. Orders supplies and materials by contacting vendors; ensuring inventories are sufficient; Completing RMA’s and scheduling delivery. Performs complex water services field investigations and routine maintenance inspections. Assist with administrative duties and ensure equipment and supplies are available Performs other assigned duties Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Two (2) years of related work experience, Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and Valid Driver’s License. Class D Texas Water license is required to be obtained within one year of employment. Must be able to work rotational on-call, after hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Knowledge of City policies and procedures; Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water meters; Knowledge of standard safety processes, work gear and procedures; Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Skill in the operation and use of standard office software which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products; Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing; and Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials; Ability to alphabetize and numerically sequence materials; Ability to operate a motor vehicle; Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with City administration, other employees, and the general public.
