Under the direction of the CMO (Chief Medical Officer), the Assistance Medical Director is the designated medical leader for the County MHMR Center. They are primarily responsible for directing psychiatric activities, monitoring trends and activities, diagnosing and treating clients, and administering specialized psychiatric treatments and procedures. The Assistant Medical Director collaborates with the Director of Clinic Operations, provides clinical direction and leadership to staff, and promotes the physical and mental health of individuals served. They plan, assign, and supervise work, working under minimal supervision with considerable independence. Essential Elements of all Executive Leadership Team (ELT) Responsibilities
All ELT members serve at the pleasure of the Executive Director, uphold high integrity, maintain confidentiality, and exhibit loyalty, honesty, and integrity to the Director. Education, Training, and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college of medicine with a medical degree. Medical licensure in good standing, with experience with chronic mental illness and addiction, and supervisory experience. Residency and board certification in psychiatry. Qualifications
Active DEA and Texas medical licenses in good standing. Experience in clinical supervision and administration. Preferred: two years managerial experience. Background check clear of disqualifying offenses. Valid Texas driver’s license and auto insurance. Completion of position-specific training within 30 days of employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of psychiatric principles, general medicine, and treatment planning. Skill in patient care, diagnostic tools, research, and computer use. Ability to direct psychiatric activities, diagnose, treat, and communicate effectively. Strong organizational, conflict resolution, and documentation skills. Willingness to serve as volunteer faculty, if applicable. Additional requirements include performing PMAB techniques, CPR, on-call shifts, and delegation of prescriptive authority to Nurse Practitioners. Must be able to work with individuals with severe mental illness and maintain participation in provider networks. The candidate should display reliable attendance and understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles. About Marathon
