Job Overview Are you passionate about water conservation and environmental sustainability? Join us at DFW Airport as a Water/Wastewater Systems Technician and play a crucial role in maintaining our water and wastewater systems!
What You Will Be Doing
Operate, maintain, repair, and service pumps, motors, compressors, dehumidifiers, pressure and motor controls, and other components of pre-treatment plant systems and water/wastewater systems, including Reverse Osmosis, deicing systems, sanitary/industrial lift stations, Trigg Lake Aeration, and Potable Water, Reclaimed Water, and Board-owned irrigation systems.
Install, repair, and replace water and sewer mains; join and caulk pipes; repair valves and hydrants; drill and install taps.
Excavate and backfill trenches and culverts using backhoe and hand tools.
Operate vacuum trucks to remove debris from storm sewer systems.
Exercise all valves in the system; make repairs as necessary.
Inspect and clean manholes; manually remove line-clogging debris; repair or replace manhole covers; raise and lower covers to proper grade.
Read and interpret data from charts, gauges, and dials; adjust or repair equipment and instruments or report deficiencies when repairs are beyond technical expertise. Inspect temporary water service connections for compliance with Board policies and procedures.
Perform daily chlorine residual tests; maintain safety equipment in operable condition.
Read water meters and record readings.
Perform periodic inspections of storage tanks.
Inspect, maintain, and repair Board-owned irrigation systems.
What You Need
Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water or wastewater systems.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License, or the ability to obtain within 1 year.
