Akkodis is looking for a contract to hire desktop support specialist onsite. Desktop support provides front-line technical support to end users, ensuring timely resolution of hardware, software, and connectivity issues. This role requires strong customer service skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple support requests in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for technical assistance via phone, email, in-person, and remote support tools.
Deliver proactive, in-person support during deployment of desktop computers, printers, and related hardware, following established asset management and inventory control procedures.
Maintain a thorough understanding of hardware and software configurations across the enterprise.
Provide professional, courteous, and timely assistance to all users; elevate unresolved issues promptly, ensuring a smooth handoff to the designated escalation team.
Respond to system security alerts as directed by system administrators and cybersecurity personnel.
Prioritize incoming work requests based on urgency, impact, and business needs.
Track, document, and resolve incidents through established ticketing systems, ensuring clear documentation of actions and resolutions.
Follow defined IT processes and controls to ensure compliance with SOX and internal audit requirements.
Support other IT initiatives and projects as assigned by management.
Maintain on-call availability for after-hours support on a 24/7/365 rotation basis.
Requirements
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a Help Desk or technical support environment.
At least 4 years’ hands‑on experience installing, configuring, and managing Windows workstations, laptops, and printers.
4+ years of recent experience troubleshooting computers, printers, and network connectivity issues.
Experience with Endpoint Protection and Cybersecurity Solutions in a desktop/laptop environment.
Strong background supporting mobility devices (iPhones, iPads, Android phones, and tablets), including deployment and configuration; AirWatch MDM experience a plus.
Proficiency with imaging software and tools such as SCCM, MDT, or PDQ for imaging and deployment of desktops and laptops.
Experience working with external vendors to coordinate application and hardware support.
Support day‑to‑day IT operations, including administrative procedures, asset management, and inventory control.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Core Applications, including Microsoft 365 (O365).
Demonstrated proficiency in all role‑specific technical competencies.
Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
