Springfield‑Greene County 911 Emergency Communications is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team as 911 Telecommunicators. As the first point of contact in emergencies, you’ll be the calm voice providing life‑saving guidance and dispatching emergency responders to the scene.
Responsibilities
Provide calm, compassionate assistance to citizens in high‑stress, high‑volume emergency scenarios.
Gather and verify accurate information from callers, assess severity, and dispatch appropriate emergency responders.
Follow emergency response protocols and maintain accurate, real‑time call logs.
Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance programs to improve dispatch skills.
Requirements
Prior experience in 911 telecommunications for a regional emergency communications center.
Ability to perform efficiently and compassionately in any high‑volume, high‑stress scenario.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) certification.
Minimum two years of experience in a customer‑oriented atmosphere or high‑volume customer call center, or one year of experience in emergency communications/dispatch work.
Preferred
Experience in emergency communications/dispatch work in the southwest MO area.
Background education of 30 semester hours from an accredited college/university.
Schedule & Compensation Ten‑hour shifts, four days per week, with variable shift start times throughout the 24‑hour period.
Pay starts at $21.67/hr.
