The Regional Outreach Facilitator (ROF) is an integral part of the NC Cooperative Extension and the More in My Basket program. The ROF is housed in Carteret County Extension Center and works under the guidance and direct supervision of Shawn Banks, Carteret County Extension Director and Dr. Carolyn Bird, Professor and Principal Investigator/Program Director. The applicant will serve as the Regional Outreach Facilitator with the following requirements: Collaborate with and support Extension Agent outreach in eight primary eastern counties: Carteret, Columbus, Duplin, Jones, New Hanover, Onslow, Wayne, and Wilson. Liaison with and provide the MIMB campus-based team with information on specialized needs for the region. Organize and/or conduct regional agent update meetings with MIMB agents. Collaborate with eastern Extension agents to engage with the More In My Basket Program. Serve as liaison between county program staff and NCSU program staff for any programmatic issues. Provide on-site support to county staff for outreach activities. Facilitate program evaluation by assisting with curricula evaluation during MIMB workshops. Support outreach through the development of community partnerships. Contribute to the campus partnership database through regular reports. Refer local clients to the campus team for FNS/SNAP benefit screenings. Other duties as assigned. The program, More In My Basket (MIMB), promotes and facilitates the delivery of outreach education, information, and programming to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligible population. A key role of the Regional Outreach Facilitator-East is to promote and facilitate the delivery of outreach information and programming to the SNAP-eligible population. Other Work/Responsibilities
The applicant should have demonstrated abilities in coordinating multi-county education programs and developing partnerships with organizations serving limited-resource populations. Knowledge of and preferably experience in working with Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences and 4-H Youth Development Agents is desirable. Requirements and Preferences
The minimum requirement for employment as an Area Specialized Agent (ASA) with North Carolina Cooperative Extension is either (i) a Master’s degree in an area related to the agent’s assigned specialized responsibility and a minimum of three (3) years of Extension or education-related or industry-related experience in the relevant field, or (ii) a Bachelor’s degree in an area related to the assigned specialized responsibility and a minimum of seven (7) years of Extension, education-related or industry-related experience in the area of specialization. Candidates shall also have demonstrated skills and abilities in program development and evaluation, and subject matter expertise in the area of specialization. Preference for research experience, including the ability or demonstrated experience in facilitating field research in the area of specialization, as well as history of successfully obtaining or capacity to obtain grant funds to support research and extension work in the area of specialization. Ability to work extra hours and weekends is required. Person must provide their own dependable, personal vehicle and have the ability to travel independently in the assigned geographical area. Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred (Family and Consumer Sciences, Public Health, Sociology, Social work, etc.), but Bachelor’s degree accepted. Demonstrated leadership and effective written and verbal communication skills. Experience collaborating with community-based organizations. A commitment to excellence and the ability to work effectively as a team member. Experience in team-oriented goal setting and implementation. Bi-lingual English and Spanish. Experience with programs serving low-income populations. Experience with social media communications. Good technical skills including internet technology and Microsoft Office programs. Recruitment
