What\u2019s the opportunity?
Intercom’s Legal team is seeking a dedicated Senior Employment Counsel to support employment and HR matters, as well as other corporate compliance initiatives. You will collaborate with the People team (HR Ops, Recruiting, HRBPs, Compensation and Benefits, Stock Administration, Privacy) and other stakeholders on employment, compliance, litigation and investigations. The position is based in San Francisco, California or Chicago, Illinois. What will I be doing?
Provide global counseling and subject matter expertise on labor and employment issues across multiple jurisdictions (primarily U.S., U.K., Ireland and Australia), including employee policies, performance management, terminations, immigration, wage and hour compliance, employee relations, conflicts of interests and ethics, executive compensation and equity matters Advise on compensation-related matters, including compensation design proposals, commission plans, pay transparency laws, wage and hour issues, and leveling and job architecture matters Work closely with Stock Administration, Compensation and Benefits teams to support equity, compensation and benefits programs Manage the resolution of internal ethics and employee relations investigations, administrative claims and litigation matters Stay current on changes to employment laws and regulations, conduct research and provide guidance on potential impacts to the organization Draft, review and help negotiate employment offer letters and contracts, templates, separation agreements, bonus and commission plans and other employment documents Develop, update and maintain employment policies, handbooks, guidelines, programs and processes that align with legal requirements and best practices, in collaboration with other stakeholders Develop and deliver training to employees, managers and HR teams on ethics, compliance, investigations and best practices Provide advice on privacy and data protection involving employees and job applicants Assess legal risks and advise on strategic initiatives impacting the global workforce to enable business agility What skills do I need?
10+ years relevant experience as an attorney with a law firm and in-house legal department Extensive experience in employment law, including litigation management Strong knowledge of U.S., Ireland, UK and Australia employment laws and regulations Experience in developing and implementing employment policies, programs, compliance initiatives and training Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to support Intercom\u2019s initiatives High initiative, flexibility, and adaptability to meet various challenges Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-first attitude Positive attitude, good humor, high empathy, and composure in challenging situations J.D. degree from an accredited law school and California or Illinois state bar admission (or ability to be registered as in-house counsel if licensed elsewhere) We are a well-treated team with awesome benefits. Regular employees may be eligible for a corporate bonus program, a sales incentive (target included in OTE), and stock in the form of RSUs. Intercom has a hybrid working policy.
