The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, performing general accounting duties, assisting with month-end processes, and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting or related roles preferred, preferably in a corporate environment.
CPA or working towards certification is a plus.
Display courtesy and politeness.
Strong administrative skills and hands-on style.
Establish a good working relationship with fellow staff members.
Enthusiasm, perseverance and curiosity are plus qualities.
Typical Duties / Responsibilities
Prompt, regular, and dependable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Prepare and post journal entries in SAP with proper supporting documentation.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Prepare and complete month-end closing procedures, including G1.
Ensure accruals and adjustments are recorded timely.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and variance analyses.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and procedures.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
Identify areas of process improvement within accounting functions and suggest enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Assist with fixed asset accounting as needed.
Responsible for lease accounting.
Assist in other duties within the finance/accounting organization as needed, to allow for cross-training and use of resources as critical needs arise.
Open to cross-training in other areas within accounting, to learn duties not core to the role itself and to provide backup as needed.
Assist in special projects, especially related to SAP integration and upgrades, as needed.
Additional assignments as deemed necessary by Management.
