ECHOES OF ISADORA: TECHNIQUE & REPERTORY WORKSHOP + PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY

@lightreat Join us for a fun opportunity to

learn, explore, and perform

the timeless repertory of Isadora Duncan (1877–1927). This multi-week workshop (2.5 to 3 hours weekly) will culminate in a performance showcase at The Sanctuary Space in NYC. We are seeking a small group of passionate and dedicated dancers eager to immerse themselves in Duncan’s movement vocabulary. Sessions will be held on Sundays, beginning with a technique class, followed by the study of one or more repertory pieces. Participants who wish to perform in the final showcase in May should commit to most Sunday sessions.

Please note that the repertory dances will include significant aerobic movement. To make this experience accessible, the workshop fee is just $15 per session. Dancers who prefer to attend only the technique class are welcome at the same rate. No prior experience in Duncan technique is required—just a willingness to explore and engage with this expressive and influential style. Step into the living history of modern dance and gain both a physical and intellectual understanding of the origins of contemporary theater and dance. Together, we’ll uncover how Duncan’s revolutionary movement vocabulary was developed and has evolved over the past century. Isadora Duncan, a trailblazing artist and cultural pioneer, ignited the spirit of modernism with her innovative approach to dance. Grounded in breath and the solar plexus as the center of movement, her technique continues to inspire and enhance today’s dance practices. This workshop explores her authentic material through a fresh, contemporary lens shaped by the instructor’s diverse movement background. Come be a part of this enriching journey into the origins of modern dance.
