Underwriter III

Underwriter III is responsible for reviewing and underwriting large books of business, evaluating complex risk scenarios, and providing guidance and training to agents and field management.
Essential Functions
Participate in rate‑making meetings and bring regional items for vetting.
Evaluate each component of a book of business and understand the impact of risk.
Assess requests for appeals and departmental audits.
Present webinars and presentations for other underwriters, marketing, and agency groups.
Coordinate with managers and field staff to correct agent performance issues.
Educate, coach, and train agents on underwriting procedures, philosophy, and new products.
Support agents and field management as an educator and coach.
Assist agents and field management on guideline changes via webinars and in‑person presentations.
Lead and coordinate independent projects outside of normal duties.
Qualifications
Associate degree.
Four to six years of underwriting experience.
Supervisory/management experience is not applicable.
Occupational Requirements
Communicate effectively with others to exchange information.
Perform routine work within established policies and procedures; receive detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.
Require physical presence in company office on a part‑time or full‑time basis.
No adverse working or environmental conditions expected.
Preferences
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Some P&C industry and/or farming or commercial industry knowledge preferred.
AALU, AU, AINS certification preferred.
Applicable designation strongly preferred or progress toward.
