The Center for
Research and Education in Special Environments
( CRESE ) is seeking a Research Support Specialist. Located on the University at Buffalo’s South Campus, CRESE is home to a variety of unique research equipment and environmental chambers, allowing the simulation of a wide spectrum of air temperatures, humidity, altitude, depth, and water immersion. CRESE researchers are leaders in environmental physiology, dedicated to improving the health and safety of the military, workers, emergency responders, and physically active populations in extreme environments.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with common exercise physiology techniques and diagnostic exercise equipment such as maximal oxygen consumption testing, resting and exercising measures of metabolic rate, heart rate, and blood pressure, and have an understanding of basic cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and thermal physiology. The candidate should possess knowledge of or have the ability to learn common computer-based programs in the field of exercise science. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating grant-funded research studies. Strong interpersonal skills, independence, and an aptitude for problem solving while working within a dedicated professional team is required. Collaborating with faculty investigators, research team members, and students to ensure adherence to study protocols and support daily study operations. Conducting anthropometric measurements and data collection related to exercise and body composition. Maintaining accurate and detailed participant records through timely documentation and data entry, in compliance with university policies and applicable standards. Engaging with research participants to ensure participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, and retention Implement and administer complex research studies Performing standard lab-related tests and procedures while collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data Must be able to work independently

Minimum Qualifications Background in exercise physiology, kinesiology, human physiology, biology, or a related field Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a human subjects research laboratory Ability to pass a physical exam for scuba diving or work in a pressurized environment Physical Demands Must be able to pass a physical exam for scuba diving or work in a pressurized environment. The research projects this individual will be working on often requires them to scuba dive and/or work at pressurized environments to complete the job duties. Salary Range Salary Range $45,000 - $54,000 Additional Salary Information Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
