Role Overview:
The Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in the kitchen, supporting the Executive Chef in planning, preparing, and serving high-quality meals to residents and guests. This position ensures compliance with nutrition standards, dietary needs, and safety guidelines while helping to create a positive dining experience that enhances the overall quality of life in the community.
Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, and plating.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation practices.
Collaborate on menu planning, incorporating resident preferences and dietary requirements.
Monitor food inventory, place orders, and manage stock rotation to minimize waste.
Uphold regulatory standards and ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Step in to lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Contribute to a welcoming and efficient dining experience that reflects ALG Senior's standards of excellence.
Qualifications
Previous culinary experience, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality.
Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen setting.
Strong knowledge of food safety, nutrition, and dietary restrictions.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred but not required.
Passion for providing excellent service and creating meaningful experiences for residents.
